Shetland welcomes home the new Tranquility LK63

The newest addition to Shetland’s whitefish fleet arrived back at Symbister in Whalsay on the 3rd of June after completing successful sea and fishing trials at the Danish shipyard in Hvide Sande. The new vessel which has replaced a 32-year-old vessel of the same name has overall length of 27.5 metres and an eight-metre beam and is driven by a 900 hp Mitsubishi engine.

The crew of the Tranquility consists of skipper Stuart Anderson and 2nd skipper David Reid and crew members Robbie Jamieson, John Johnson, George Eunson, Chris Shearer. They are all looking forward to working on the new vessel which will be “easier and safer” than the vessel it has replaced.  The team plans to set sail to fish in earnest on the 9th of June.

The £3 million investment is testament to the confidence the sector has in the future of the whitefish sector in Shetland. QA Fish congratulates the tranquillity team and looks forward to continuing to source the quality fish from her for years to come.
